Whilst traveling in Germany Eric Swartz from Memphis Tennesse became so fascinated by people’s stories during the time of The Wall, particularly artists residing in Berlin, that he decided to produce a documentary with the help of Sarah Christine Bolton called “Children of The Wall”. As a well known artist residing in Berlin, they came to interview Anja Schneider, to talk about her experiences and thoughts on why Berlin is now such an important cultural city.
The ‘Children of The Wall’ project began when Eric Swartz was traveling in Berlin and Leipzig ..
“I was amazed at the diversity of the stories that arose from the division, separation, and ultimate reunification of a country where most of these individuals had lived from birth. I found a Germany that had to reinvent itself from the shadows of the past and reconcile its inner divisions. My perception is that music, film, and the arts are a driving force in that reinvention. As an American of German descent, this project is very exciting to me.”
